Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to contribute to the transmission assembly operations at the Livonia plant. You will work onsite to develop lean, flexible manufacturing processes for 8F/10R gear machining lines across Michigan and adjacent sites.

The role requires a B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience, with GD&T skills and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years engineering and manufacturing experience.
• Reading and interpreting GD&T on engineering drawings.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and communicating results.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of Gears and related Round Parts manufacturing systems for new powertrain programs in Michigan.
• Utilize machining process knowledge to improve quality, costs, timing and footprint.
• Support equipment installation, power on, run capability, and handover to powertrain plants.
• Initiate bids, evaluate and recap bids for equipment purchase; collaborate with Purchasing to place orders.
• Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, Product, and Plant engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Interface on facilities, safety, ergonomics, material handling and tooling matters.
• Support discrete event simulation for constraint analysis with Industrial Engineers to improve throughput.
• Travel up to 50% for project support with OEMs and suppliers.
