GE Vernova's Applied Grid Innovation team is seeking a Power System Intern focused on foundational models in Bellevue, WA. You will contribute to research and prototyping that blends power systems expertise with advanced AI to create intelligent, grid-ready operational solutions for the energy future.

You will research post-training techniques, explore fine-tuning and alignment, develop experiments, evaluate model behavior, and collaborate with AI researchers and software engineers.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or completed degree in CS/AI/ML.
• Experience with Python and ML frameworks.
• Solid understanding of supervised learning and deep learning basics.
• Experience conducting research or model development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or related discipline.
• Experience with Python and machine learning frameworks.
• Understanding of supervised learning and deep learning fundamentals.
• Experience conducting research or model development projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What will make you stand out (Desired Qualifications)

• Experience with LLM fine-tuning and model alignment.
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning and preference optimization techniques.
• Experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with generative AI technologies.
• Interest in energy systems and critical infrastructure applications.

• Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
