Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA in Lafayette, IN, is seeking a precision measurement technician to validate and certify gauge instruments, ensuring compliance with customer specs and internal documentation.

You will inspect, calibrate, repair, and certify gages, including CMMs and surface plates, and support ISO9001 processes. This is a safety-sensitive role with pre-employment drug testing and strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• This position requires hands-on experience with gage checking, repair and certification.
• CNC machining background and ability to interpret part features to gage readings.
• Experience with surface plate layout and trig calculations to determine non-printed dimensions.
• Metric and English precision measurement; knowledge of Caterpillar systems is helpful.
• Team player with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Check, adjust, calibrate, certify and repair precision measuring instruments.
• Lap, adjust and repair gages to restore accuracy; certify CMM, micrometers and surface plates.
• Arrange repairs with outside suppliers and support ISO9001 processes.
• Train new or fellow employees on technical aspects when qualified.
