Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Centennial (Frisco) is seeking a Gastroenterology Technician 2 to support the Endoscopy Lab. The role includes assisting with procedures, coordinating with nurses and physicians, and ensuring clean and safe equipment. Orientation is required, with a rotating call schedule and weekend/holiday coverage.

You will work under clinical oversight to maintain high standards of patient care and team collaboration in a fast-paced GI lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with non-sedation procedures and inform patients.
• Work with nurses and doctors during sedation; monitor vital signs and assist with CPR.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and supervise sterilization processes.
• Support recovery room monitoring and prepare slides for labs.
• Train new technicians and provide feedback on performance.
• Document data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies and coordinate with supervisors and vendors.

PT days, two 10 hour shifts per week with 7 days of call per month including rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Workdays varying based on department needs. MUST be able to attend a one week mandatory orientation: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Job Summary

As a Gastroenterology Technician 2, you work under clinical oversight. You perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. You oversee teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment. Your role helps maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
• Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and oversee others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
• Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you'll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
• Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
• Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installation.
