Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco at PGA Parkway is seeking a Gastroenterology Technician for the Endoscopy Lab. You will perform examinations and procedures, guide teammates to meet standards, and oversee cleaning and sterilization of equipment.

The role requires 1–2 years of Endoscopy/GI tech experience and is a full-time day position (6:30 AM–3:00 PM) with rotating on-call shifts. Baylor Scott & White Health offers benefits, PTO and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience: minimum 1-2 years of Endoscopy/GI Tech experience.
• Basic patient care skills and ability to work in a fast-paced lab.
• Good communication with nurses, doctors and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assist during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Monitor patient vitals and support sedation procedures with staff.
• Oversee cleaning, sterilizing and maintenance of equipment and rooms.
• Document patient data and assist with specimen handling as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety and isolation protocols.

LOCATION/FACILITY: Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Frisco at PGA Parkway

SPECIALITY/DEPARTMENT PRACTICE: Endoscopy Lab. We do the following advanced cases: EUS, ESD, Poems, Endoflip, Overstitch, EBUS, ERCP, ION Bronch cases, Bravo.

SHIFT/SCHEDULE: Full time days, Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-3:00 PM. Rotating call shifts are required: 10-12 on call shifts per month from 3p-7p on weekdays and weekends are 24 hours 7-7.

Job Summary

As a Gastroenterology Technician, you work under clinical oversight. You perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. You oversee teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment. Your role helps maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
• Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and  oversee others to ensure  quality  control …​ ...
• Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you'll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
• Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
• Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installation.
