Job summary

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Frisco in Frisco, TX is seeking a Gastroenterology Technician 2 to join the Endoscopy Lab on a PRN schedule (days). You will assist with procedures not needing sedation, coordinate with nurses and doctors during sedation, maintain equipment, and support safe patient care.

The role requires attending a one-week orientation and a high school diploma with at least 3 years of relevant experience; BLS/CPR certification is required or will be obtained within 30

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• BLS or CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Experience supporting GI procedures and peri-procedural care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in GI procedures not requiring sedation and inform patients about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures and monitor vitals.
• Maintain and sanitize equipment and supervise others on quality control.
• Assist in recovery room, prepare specimen slides, and document data during admission/discharge.
• Order supplies and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery.

LOCATION/FACILITY: Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Frisco at PGA Parkway, 7600 Better Wy, Frisco, TX 75033

SPECIALITY/DEPARTMENT PRACTICE: Endoscopy Lab

SHIFT/SCHEDULE: PRN Days, 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM, availability for 1-2 days a week between Monday - Friday (preferably Tuesday & Wednesday). Our primary need is Tuesday and then occasionally some Wednesdays. 4 days of on call per month. MUST be able to attend a one week mandatory orientation: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Job Summary As a Gastroenterology Technician 2, you work under clinical oversight. You perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. You oversee teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment. Your role helps maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
• Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and oversee others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
• Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you'll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
• Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
• Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installation.
