Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health seeks a Gastroenterology Technician 2 to assist with GI procedures under clinical oversight. You will guide technicians to maintain standards and oversee cleaning and sterilization of equipment, contributing to a safe healthcare environment.

You will collaborate with nurses and physicians during procedures, monitor vitals, and support recovery room activities, including specimen slide prep for lab investigations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
• BLS or CPR certificate required or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with non-sedation procedures and inform patients throughout the process.
• Assist nurses and doctors during sedation procedures, monitor vitals, and respond to emergencies such as CPR.
• Maintain and clean equipment; supervise others for quality control during GI procedures.
• Assist in recovery room by monitoring patient data and preparing slides for lab investigation.
• Ensure staff follow standards; train new technicians and provide feedback.
• Document data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, obtain supervisor approval, and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment and generate quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installations.

Job Summary

As a Gastroenterology Technician 2, you work under clinical oversight. You perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. Essential Functions Of The Role

• Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
• Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and oversee others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
• Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you'll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
• Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
• Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installation.
