Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department in the Charlotte area. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with a sign-on bonus eligibility based on eligibility and policy.

The position offers a competitive pay range ($22.90 – $34.35 per hour) and benefits eligibility. Primary duties include rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with procedures, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived testing, while ensuring safety and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• May include structured military training in lieu of a medical assistant program.
• Two years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience (in last 5 years) per region requirements.
• Current AHA BLS certification preferred; competency assessment by Atrium Health may be required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies, and maintains competency.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and performs related lab duties.
• Performs CLIA-waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostics.
• Administers medications and vaccines in accordance with safety protocols.
• Handles refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment and participates in training onboarding.
