Job summary

nVent is seeking a production assembler for our Houston site. The role involves operating machinery and hand tools for repetitive assembly, using a forklift to pull materials, and performing quality inspections on gasket components.

You will work in a fast-paced team environment and participate in Lean improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, clean workspace. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (1–2 years manufacturing preferred) and familiarity with Windows tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• 1–2 years in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Computer experience with Windows Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards and the Internet.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience operating automated dispensing, CNC, robotic, or gasket application equipment is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production schedules, and engineering drawings.
• Basic computer skills for entering production data and operating machine interfaces.
• Ability to perform quality inspections using measuring tools, gauges, and visual standards.
• Strong attention to detail to meet gasket specifications.
• Troubleshooting minor equipment issues and notifying maintenance when required.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet productivity goals.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35–50 pounds.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production demands.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery, hand tools, and pneumatic tools for repetitive assembly tasks.
• Operate forklift to pull materials as needed.
• Install hardware, perform quality checks, and package finished goods for shipping.
• Work in a fast-paced team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Observe safety rules and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Fill in on the line to maintain production flow during absences.
• Coordinate cross-training to enhance team capability.
• Move material efficiently within and out of the work area.
• Drive a Lean culture by involving employees in problem solving.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
