Job summary

WSB and Associates is seeking Gas Trouble Locate Technicians to support utility locating operations in the field across Texas venues. The role involves locating, troubleshooting, documenting, and marking underground utilities with safety and accuracy at the forefront.

The position emphasizes independence for outdoor fieldwork, problem-solving, and a fast-paced environment to protect underground infrastructure and support excavation safety. Pre-employment drug testing may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–4+ years utility locating experience preferred.
• Knowledge of PE and Steel gas lines and components.
• Knowledge of 811 processes, locate laws, and utility marking requirements preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, prints and as-built docs.
• Pass Operator Qualification modules and required training.

Responsibilities

• Perform utility locating with emphasis on safety, accuracy and compliance.
• Locate and mark underground utilities per APWA color standards.
• Read maps and prints to identify underground utilities and locations.
• Operate locating equipment and field tools; troubleshoot difficult cases.
• Document field data and prepare accurate as-builts for future use.
• Work independently and with field teams across multiple sites daily.
