Job summary

RECONN is seeking a Utility Inspection Technician to inspect gas meters and pipes in indoor facilities, report findings, and complete forms. You’ll work in Somerville, Cambridge or Hyde Park, MA, with daytime hours and possible weekend overtime.

You’ll receive paid training and tools to perform inspections safely and accurately. Ideal candidates are comfortable with technology, can read maps, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Proficient with smartphones, tablets and current technology.
• Able to communicate effectively one-on-one and in groups.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions; outdoor experience preferred.
• Must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver's license with a safe record.
• Ability to use simple hand tools and read utility maps.

Responsibilities

• Enter commercial and residential facilities to inspect gas meters and pipes for leaks and corrosion.
• Perform visual inspections and complete required paperwork/data (electronic or paper).
• Report to the designated work area on time at the start of each shift.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and document findings accurately.
• This is daytime, full-time work with possible weekend hours and overtime.
