The City of Richmond, Department of Public Utilities is seeking a qualified Utilities Heavy Equipment Operator to maintain and operate heavy equipment for gas utility infrastructure installation and repair. The position may serve as lead operator and provide direction to crew in the supervisor's absence.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, 6 years of related experience, and relevant certifications; a valid Virginia (or US) driver’s license with CDL endorsements is required.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six years of relevant experience, including two years at equipment operator level.
• Training in equipment used at this level of assignment.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used.

Aufgaben

• Operate heavy construction and specialized equipment for gas infra installation and repair.
• Serve as SME on equipment operation and gas construction procedures.
• Train and mentor junior operators and crew members.
• Oversee complex field procedures (gas control, main tapping, pipe fusion).
• Respond to critical gas leaks and coordinate repairs with minimal supervision.
• Interpret drawings and maps to avoid underground conflicts.
