Job summary

Spire Inc. is seeking an Operations Utility Technician Inspection to safely install and maintain natural gas mains and services for transmission and distribution systems in compliance with 49 CFR Part 192.

This role supports construction projects, performs field inspections, records-keeping, pipe locating, leak detection, and uses computer/electronic equipment for construction operations, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use common construction tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities for record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and services.
• Support construction projects by performing field inspections and coordinating activities.
• Use computer/electronic equipment for construction operations and record-keeping.
• Perform pipe locating, basic CP checks, leak detection/classification, and soil classification.
• Maintain accurate records of construction activities and compliance documentation.
• Follow safety protocols and company procedures during field and office activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Weekend and evening work may be required; overtime and call-outs possible.
