Job summary

USIC is seeking field technicians to join the Advanced Gas Operations team in the Charlotte area. You will use locating equipment to locate gas lines, mark work sites, and support safe utility damage prevention on diverse projects.

This is a full-time, daytime position with overtime, weekend and on-call shifts. You will drive a company vehicle, receive 100% paid training, and enjoy benefits and growth opportunities as you build a career in underground utility locating.

Qualifications

Able to pass a drug screen.
Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Stand and walk for long periods.
Able to travel locally during the business day; some overnight travel may be expected.
Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
Proficiency with technology and ability to read locate tickets/maps; basic math to calculate distances.

Responsibilities

Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
Some hand digging to unearth gas lines may be required.
Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
As a technician in the AGO division, you may locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project.
