Job summary

USIC is seeking outdoor-oriented locators in North Carolina to identify gas lines using locating equipment, mark sites with paint and flags, and perform some hand digging as required. You will join USIC’s Advanced Gas Operations team, receive extensive training, a company vehicle and fuel card, and benefits.

Candidates must pass a drug screen, hold a valid driver’s license, be willing to travel locally, and work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.
• Ability to travel locally; some overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods; lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to read locate tickets, maps, and prints; basic math skills.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
• Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
• As a technician in our Advanced Gas Operations division, you may locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project to which you are assigned.
