Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Gas Turbine Controls Software Engineer for a leading energy organization in the Greater Atlanta area. The role focuses on developing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control software for industrial gas turbine systems.

The position follows a hybrid schedule with three onsite days per week, with occasional on-site attendance for design reviews and FAT. A hands-on engineering background and experience with DCS/PLC control logic are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Local to the Greater Atlanta area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify gas turbine control logic and operator HMI screens.
Translate SAMA diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives into DCS control logic.
Implement turbine governor controls, startup sequences, permissives, interlocks, trips, and protection logic.
Support turbine auxiliary systems (lube oil, control oil, turning gear, and hydraulic valve positioning).
Configure and test turbine instrumentation (servo coils, LVDTs, vibration-monitoring systems, supervisory instruments).
Perform closed-loop simulation, software validation, and FAT.
Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and onsite turbine startup.
Participate in customer design reviews and provide technical support to project and field teams.
