Job summary

The role covers the full project lifecycle from design and development to customer acceptance testing, commissioning, and field startup, with emphasis on DCS, HMI, and control algorithm development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial controls or power generation.
• Experience with DCS and HMI development is essential.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, SAMA diagrams, and process narratives is needed.
• Experience with FAT, commissioning, or startup activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Gas Turbine Control Software Engineer to join our Turbine Controls Software & Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems for gas turbine applications used in power generation facilities around the world.

This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in industrial automation, distributed control systems (DCS), process controls, and turbine operations who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from design and software development through customer acceptance testing and field startup.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control software for gas turbine control systems.
• Review customer specifications and determine project deliverables while identifying technical risks.
• Convert SAMA diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives into DCS control logic and operator HMI graphics.
• Develop and implement control algorithms that optimize turbine performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Participate in customer design reviews and support project execution activities.
• Perform software testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Lead and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) using closed-loop simulation environments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, controls, and project engineering.
• Support system commissioning, startup, and field integration activities.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and field service personnel.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practices in turbine controls and automation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or power generation control systems.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of process control principles and control logic development.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, SAMA diagrams, and process narratives.
• Experience supporting system testing, FATs, commissioning, or startup activities.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with gas turbine or combined-cycle power generation systems.
• Experience with Siemens, Emerson Ovation, ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa, or similar DCS platforms.
• Knowledge of control theory, process automation, and industrial networking.
• Experience with closed-loop simulation environments.
• Exposure to power generation, utilities, oil & gas, or heavy industrial applications.
