Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas is seeking an Engineer, Combustion Tuning to apply advanced controls and combustion engineering to commissioning, startup, and performance tuning of our heavy-duty gas turbine fleet.

You will analyze data, develop tuning strategies, support field outages, and travel up to 70% to customer sites, ensuring compliant, reliable turbine operation. The role offers growth in a safety-focused, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; 3–5 years of related experience or training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and business materials; ability to write reports and present information.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical engineering problems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions.
  • Proficient with database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Travel is required; on-site outages involve site presence.

Responsibilities

  • Apply combustion theory to commissioning, startup, optimization, troubleshooting, and tuning of large-frame gas turbines.
  • Analyze combustion and turbine data; develop and implement tuning strategies.
  • Support field startup and commissioning activities; diagnose combustion-related issues.
  • Calibrate field devices; verify control system wiring and tuning.
  • Prepare accurate reports on conditions, actions, and results.
