Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across various departments.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to all team members.
- Implement strategies to improve customer service, increase store sales, and ensure customer needs are met efficiently.
- Maintain store appearance focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
What You'll be Doing:
- Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
- Manage staffing, recruitment, and hiring processes to meet operational needs.
- Promote career development through succession planning, identifying training needs, and participating in promotion decisions.
- Handle disciplinary actions and make recommendations regarding employee discharge.
- Oversee P&L, sales targets, and shrink management for the department.
- Model exceptional customer service and promote the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
- Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
- Ensure thorough training for all team members.
- Spend significant time within the store engaging with customers and team members.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of related retail experience.
- At least one year of management experience.
- Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, and customer service.
- Strong communication skills for clear and effective team guidance.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and manage multiple tasks.
- Financial and statistical analysis skills for decision-making.
- Commitment to practicing safe work habits.
- Ability to mentor diverse team members.
- Successful completion of all required certifications.
