Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring a Service Technician I/II in the Greensboro area to support safe, efficient installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities on transmission and distribution systems. The role involves customer interaction, field work, and adherence to safety policies and regulations.

The position offers opportunities for progression from Service Technician I to II, with required training, certifications, and the potential to work on both regulated and non-regulated service tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience using construction tools.
• Experience applying basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience utilizing personal computers (PCs) in a Windows environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and, per local Fleet availability, have ability to obtain CDL medical card within 6 months of entering the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform work assignments on customer's premises; interact with customers professionally to promote good relations.
• Utilize maps and GPS to locate work assignments; operate a company vehicle and maintain CDL medical card.
• Identify, obtain and deliver materials needed for work assignments.
• Inspect and protect above-ground appurtenances for atmospheric corrosion.
• Read meters and install/ program encoders receivers transmitters (ERTs).
• Turn off and/or remove meters due to non-payment; identify unauthorized use of gas and remove meter as required.
• Install residential and small commercial meters (up to Group III) and perform disconnections/reconnections.
