Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring for a Gas Distribution Operator at an entry level. The role focuses on safely performing distributed gas system tasks, customer interactions, and ongoing skills development within the crew. Training leads toward Operator Qualifications and potential advancement.

You will work in the field, follow safety procedures, and prepare for additional responsibilities with hands-on experience in regulated and non-regulated distribution work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic mechanical concepts are required.
• Experience using construction tools is required.
• Experience operating construction equipment is required.
• Experience using PCs in a Windows environment is preferred.
• Must obtain a CDL within 12–18 months of entering the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform work on customer premises.
• Interact with customers professionally and explain work performed.
• Identify, obtain and deliver tools, materials, and equipment needed for work assignments.
• Utilize maps or GPS to locate work sites.
• Drive a company vehicle and transport heavy equipment.
• Maintain CDL and perform O&M duties for gas distribution work.
• Maintain records and documentation of field operations and safety.
