Job summary

Archaea Energy's Johnston Landfill Gas to Electric Plant in Smithfield, NC seeks a Plant Operator/Technician with 1-5 years' experience on gas engines up to 1500 kW. You will monitor plant operations, perform maintenance, and support safety and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must read and interpret operations manuals and safety manuals.
• Able to troubleshoot basic plant equipment and perform repairs.
• Digital literacy with Word, Excel, and email systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Overtime may be required to meet business needs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug test.

Responsibilities

• Performs facility inspections, maintenance and repairs of plant equipment.
• Monitors and adjusts plant system controls to improve performance and prevent equipment failure.
• Responds to plant alarms with supervision and follows corrective actions.
• Maintains compliance with permitting requirements and daily/periodic reporting.
• Performs maintenance tasks including replacing worn parts.
• Maintains logs and reports of unit conditions, maintenance, operations and downtime.
• Maintains and orders inventory of tools, parts, fluids, and supplies.
• Coordinates plant activities with clients (utility company and landfill personnel).
• Assists other company facilities as advised by management.
• Completes training and performs security checks around the plant.
• Records data for landfill tuning and adjusts well field to improve gas quantity/quality.
