Job summary

The City of Richmond’s Gas Distribution Division seeks several Gas Maintenance Technicians to work in the Richmond Gas Works. The role installs, maintains and repairs gas pipelines, responds to emergency leaks, locates underground utilities, and conducts OQ testing.

Essential duties include repairs, leak detection, and compliance with safety standards. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience, and a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or specialized vocational training.
• One year of related experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and repair emergency gas leaks and shutdown requests.
• Locate underground pipes and install gas pipes.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of gas lines, valves and pipes.
• Inspect work vehicles and complete Operators Qualification tasks.
