Job summary

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities is seeking a Natural Gas Engineer to oversee design, operation and maintenance of gas facilities. The role requires reviewing plans, permits, and documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Incumbents serve as Essential employees and may be required to work during emergencies. The anticipated hiring range is $68,830 to $88,561 and a pre-employment background check and/or drug screening may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• EIT preferred.
• Knowledge of gas distribution systems and pipeline facilities.
• Experience with design, permits, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering design, review plans, and process permits for development projects.
• Perform engineering activities for design, operation, and maintenance of natural gas facilities.
• Conduct investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
• Develop and update plans, manuals, and compliance records.
• Prepare technical reports and project status documentation.
