Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Gas Distribution Operator to handle safe, efficient installation, maintenance and operations of natural gas facilities on transmission and distribution systems. This entry-level role supports the Gas Distribution Crew Progression with hands-on training and progression toward Senior Operator.

Responsibilities include site work, customer interactions, tool and equipment management, and adherence to safety, regulatory, and company standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience applying basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience using construction tools and operating construction equipment.
• Experience utilizing personal computers (PCs) in a Windows environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform work assignments on customer’s premises.
• Interact with customers professionally to promote good relations.
• Identify, obtain and deliver tools, materials and equipment for work.
• Utilize maps and GPS to locate work assignments.
• Drive a company vehicle and transport heavy equipment.
• Maintain CDL and work toward certification within 18 months.
