Job summary

Duke Energy seeks an entry-level Gas Distribution Operator to support safe, efficient installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities. You will learn to perform O&M tasks, work with crews, and progress toward advanced operator qualifications while complying with safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic mechanical aptitude, and willingness to obtain a CDL with time. Travel and outdoor work are expected as part of field operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude are required.
• Experience using construction tools is required.
• Experience operating construction equipment is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have ability to obtain CDL within 12-18 months.
• Must obtain a learners permit within the first 12 months if you do not already have a CDL.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer-site work and interact professionally to maintain good relations.
• Identify, obtain and deliver tools, materials and equipment for assignments.
• Operate a company vehicle and transport heavy equipment with a valid CDL goal within 18 months.
• Perform O&M duties for natural gas facilities, including installation, maintenance and repair.
• Coordinate safety measures for work zones and traffic control.
• Maintain accurate field records and document work performed.
