Job summary

Rhode Island Energy is hiring a Gas Control Operator to monitor and control the Rhode Island gas distribution network. You will use SCADA to ensure safe, reliable flows, coordinate with Gas Supply, Planning, and Engineering teams, and respond to weather changes and alarms.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, strong data interpretation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
• Ability to assimilate data from a variety of sources and quickly formulate and execute action plans during periods of high stress.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to achieve and maintain industry-related certification(s) including Operator Qualifications.
• Ability to work rotating shifts with minimal notice.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Rhode Island natural gas distribution system.
• Provide oversight for safe and reliable gas flows using SCADA.
• Monitor daily system requirements and inform Gas Supply and Planning teams of load/weather changes.
• Coordinate with field personnel to respond to SCADA alarms and log shift activities.
• Distribute daily game plan and respond to emergencies while following procedures.
