Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a disciplined Gas Control professional to monitor and control essential gas transmission and distribution operations.

You will handle normal and emergency conditions, document actions, and ensure compliance with PHMSA, CRM, and DOT requirements. The role requires COBRA aptitude, color vision, and the ability to pass DOT drug & alcohol testing, with a 1-hour commute to the Arena office near Columbus, OH.

Qualifications

• Must remain calm and make effective decisions during abnormal and emergency operating conditions.
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate system conditions, assess operational risk, and make timely decisions for safe, reliable pipeline operations.
• Collaborate in a team environment to support Gas Control’s goals.
• Must pass COBRA aptitude evaluation.
• Must pass color vision test to distinguish colors.
• Must pass DOT random drug & alcohol testing.
• Must reside within a 1-hour commute to Arena office (Columbus, OH).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Operator Qualifications (OQ).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control transmission and distribution gas system operations to ensure safe, reliable service.
• Perform effectively during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions; implement emergency response procedures.
• Maintain gas balance by coordinating supply, demand, storage, and transportation resources.
• Document activities and comply with PHMSA, CRM, DOT, and company policies.
• Troubleshoot system issues using SCADA data and communicate findings to Field Operations.
• Escalate abnormal operating conditions to leadership per policy.
• Use 3-Way Communication to verify and communicate critical information.
• Work 12-hour shift rotations on a Panama Schedule (2-2-3); every other weekend off.
• Work extended hours during emergencies within DOT Hours of Service requirements.
• Operate professionally; communications and records are auditable by PHMSA and regulators.
