Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Gas Compressors) to ensure reliable operation of compressors, engines, and associated equipment at Midland-area sites. You will perform rounds, maintenance, and troubleshooting while following safety policies and permitting requirements.

The role requires 1 year of related experience, a high school diploma, and the ability manage work orders in Maximo. A 5/2 or 7/7 schedule with callouts may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of natural gas characteristics, engine and compressor operations and maintenance.
• Ability to work 5/2 M-F or 7/7 rotation with overtime, weekends, holidays, and call outs.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to take responsibility and follow through on tasks.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
• Maintain detailed records and manage work orders accurately.
• Prioritize tasks by urgency and importance.
• Keep vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and well-maintained.
• Pay close attention to details to ensure safe maintenance.
• Identify issues early and take initiative to address them.
• Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new tech.
• Support teammates and foster a collaborative environment.
• Solid computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, Maximo.
• Lift/push/pull at least 50 lbs.
• Work in changing climate conditions.
• Work in close quarters (kneeling, squatting, standing).
• Adhere to PPE, JSA, safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounds and readings at compressor stations and plants.
• Inspect equipment: seals, leaks, hours, tank levels, and filters.
• Start up/shut down field equipment including pumps and heaters.
• Complete permits, lockout/tagout, and tailgate sessions.
• Create and complete work orders in Maximo.
• Order parts and manage assigned inventory.
