Job summary

Targa Resources in Midland–San Angelo area seeks a Maintenance Technician to ensure reliable operation of engines, natural gas compressors, pumps, valves and related equipment at plant and field sites. The role includes rounds, inspections, startup/shutdown, permits, and Maximo work orders.

You will stock parts, train crews, and support safety programs while maintaining detailed maintenance records. Relocation to nearby area is considered, housing is not provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Natural Gas Characteristics, Engine and Compressor Operations and Maintenance.
  • Ability to work a 5/2 M-F OR a 7/7 rotation schedule including overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objectives for field or plant.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills required to interface all involved teams, personnel, and vendors.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision.
  • Regular and reliable attendance by arriving on time for all scheduled shifts and meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility for individual tasks and following through on commitments.
  • Be someone colleagues and supervisors can rely on to complete tasks accurately, efficiently and safely.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, manage work orders, and ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accurate.

  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), safety guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).

Responsibilities

  • Perform rounds and readings at compressors stations and/or gathering and processing plants.
  • Inspects vehicle work, spill prevention and countermeasure, fire, transformers, engines hours, tank levels, filter changes, and other equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine startup/shutdown of field equipment, such as pumps, compressors, heaters, etc.
  • Complete applicable work/hot work permits, lockout/tagout documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in work site activities.
  • Create and complete work orders in Maximo (Enterprise Asset Management software).
  • Order parts and manage inventory assigned for work completion.
  • Learn and understand Targa’s Safety Policies, Job Safety Analysis, lockout/tagout, 2-step, and Procedures and Business Ethics Policies.
  • Focus on optimization of the stations and units by reviewing compressor dashboard, unit loading, etc.
  • Plan and perform all assignments in a safe manner by utilizing the proper tools, safety, and environmental precautions, permitting, and Process Safety Management.
  • Collaborate with other departments for construction support and commissioning of new stations and units.
  • Assist with training new technicians, handle environmental compliance tasks at regulatory frequency, ensure the equipment and levels operate reliably and efficiently.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and perform general maintenance and housekeeping at the stations and units; including but not limited to LDAR, leak repairs, minor I&E (Instrumentation and Electrical), assist heavy Maintenance Technicians when assigned on location.
  • Utilize the TRUCE app to ensure safe and compliant mobile device usage while operating vehicles or working in hazardous environments.
  • Field callouts alarms as needed.
  • Must be proficient in the use of tools including hydraulic torque wrenches, laser alignment, dial indicators, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Ability to train and perform as needed the top-end, major maintenance tasks on engines components performed based on manufacturer recommendation including but not limited to engine heads, turbos, bearing, water pumps, etc.
