Job summary

Farmscape in Oakland, CA is seeking a dedicated landscaping professional to care for landscapes, gardens, and outdoor spaces at homes and businesses. You will perform planting, pruning, weeding, watering, mulching, and cleanup as part of a collaborative crew.

This full-time, non-exempt position offers Monday–Friday onsite hours 7:30am–4:00pm, with benefits including health insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, an FSA & Dependent Care plan, audiobook reimbursement, and paid vacation.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of landscaping, gardening, groundskeeping, farming, or similar experience.
• Basic experience with plants, pruning, planting, watering, and landscape maintenance.
• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Able to work well with a crew and communicate clearly.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Care for landscapes, gardens, and outdoor spaces at homes and businesses
• Perform regular landscaping work, including planting, pruning, weeding, watering, mulching, and cleanup
• Help care for vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and other plants
• Check plants and irrigation for common problems and let the team lead know when something needs attention
• Keep tools, vehicles, and work areas clean, organized, and safe

• Drive between job sites and help with other landscaping and gardening tasks as needed

Physical Demands:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable doing physical work throughout the day.

If the background check identifies a conviction that may be directly related to the duties of this position, Farmscape will:

• Provide a written individualized assessment and a copy of the background report.
• Give you at least five (5) business days to respond with relevant information or documentation.
• Issue a final notice of adverse action if a decision to withdraw the offer is maintained.

A past conviction does not automatically disqualify you. We review each case individually, considering the nature of the offense, time elapsed, relevance to job duties, and evidence of rehabilitation.
