Terrain Café, a chef-driven garden-to-table restaurant, is seeking a Host in Wayland, MA. You are the first and last contact for guests, greeting warmly, managing reservations, seating, and real-time communication with service teams to shape a memorable dining experience.

This role requires composure, attention to detail, and natural hospitality. You will assist with coats and accessibility, quote wait times, and coordinate with managers to optimize seating during peak periods.

Qualifications

• 1+ year hosting or customer service experience preferred.
• Confident communicator and calm under pressure.
• Familiarity with OpenTable or similar systems.
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests with warmth, efficiency, and professionalism.
• Assist with coats, strollers, accessibility, and special seating needs.
• Accommodate guest requests (e.g., highchairs, dietary restrictions).
• Follow brand Steps of Service from arrival to farewell.
• Maintain a calm, polished demeanor—even during peak periods.
• Use online booking tools to manage reservations and waitlists.
• Strategically assign tables to maintain pacing and flow.
• Quote wait times and provide timely updates to guests.
• Confirm reservations, special requests, and private dining notes.
• Communicate guest preferences and allergies to staff.
• Ensure host stand and entrance are clean and organized.
• Enforce cafe policies regarding large parties, pets, and decor.
