Job summary

Paws Up Montana is seeking a full-time, year-round Garden Specialist to support greenhouse operations and outdoor bed maintenance at the Greenough, MT property. This role helps cultivate produce for our culinary programs and contributes to year-round grounds care.

The ideal candidate has horticulture or landscaping experience, basic Excel skills, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. You will work with a friendly team in a luxury resort setting, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in horticulture, gardening, or landscaping.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Valid State Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Care for and maintain flower planters and containers across the property through daily watering, deadheading, and weekly fertilizing.
  • Harvest fresh produce to support the Food & Beverage culinary team.
  • Assist with the design, planting, and seasonal deployment of planters.
  • Start seeds, propagate plants using proper technique and sterile tools, and transplant seedlings when ready.
  • Hand-pollinate flowers, collect seeds, and store them properly for future planting.
  • Amend soil in raised beds and manage the proper disposal of plant waste and compost materials.
  • Wash, clean, and sanitize gardening tools, containers, and work areas.
  • Monitor landscape plants to identify pests or plant diseases early.
  • Assist the broader Landscaping team and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Help organize and execute spring planting and replace damaged landscape plants as needed.
  • Lead the daily watering route and maintain outdoor garden beds throughout the growing season.
  • Apply deer and rabbit repellents to planters and landscape beds regularly.
  • Assist with seasonal duties, including holiday lighting setup and removal, as well as winter snow removal.
  • Display professionalism, hospitality, and pride when interacting with guests and team members.
  • Ensure all guest interactions and communications are handled ethically and confidentially.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma, GED, vocational training, or related coursework.

Experience: Previous background in horticulture, gardening, or landscaping.

Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Licensure & Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including sun, rain, heat, and cold.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift, and perform physical manual labor for extended periods.

Ability to safely lift and move tools, soil bags, planters, and landscaping materials up to 50 lbs.
