Job summary

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, is seeking a part-time Garden Shop Retail Lead to oversee daily operations of The Garden Shop, including opening tills, training staff, and supervising floor activity.

The ideal candidate has retail experience, strong customer service, and basic plant knowledge; you will manage merchandising, guest interactions, and help maintain shop presentation and plant health.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year experience in retail sales.
• Exceptional customer service, communication, and hospitality skills.
• General plant knowledge is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work outdoors occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Open and reconcile register tills, cash handling, conduct training, and floor supervision shifts.
• Maintain visual presentations of the Shop, and support daily tasks such as cleaning, store recovery/replenishment, plant care, and merchandise placement.
• Resolve guest issues in a timely manner providing informed guidance and support.
• Assist in monitoring plant health to ensure maximum quality.
• Willingness to learn plant nomenclature, cultural requirements, and addressing insect and disease issues.
• Performing all duties of a retail associate.
