Job summary

The City of Cheyenne is seeking a Botanic Gardens Events Assistant to support event rentals at the Botanic Gardens, with work in the evenings and on weekends. The role involves set‑up, teardown, cleaning, and coordinating with the Events Coordinator to ensure layouts meet intended designs and safety standards.

The position emphasizes customer service, ability to lift and move equipment, and working with diverse groups of people in a garden and event setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with volunteers preferred but not required.
• Basic computer skills including word processing.
• Experience working closely and effectively with diverse people.
• High energy, creativity, people skills and any experiences in dealing with the public, working in public gardens, museums, schools, working with youth, gardening, and event coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assist in set‑up, tear‑down, and cleaning before and after events; including tables, chairs, A/V equipment, linens, plants and flowers, floors, windows, and all other necessary Botanic Gardens equipment and spaces that may be required.
• Review event layout with the Events Coordinator and ensure that the intent of the layout is understood so it can be executed as intended.
• Assist with private events to ensure safety, cleanliness, and client adherence to Botanic Gardens policies.
• Lock and secure the building when events are complete.
• Assist in maintaining equipment such as audiovisual systems, carts, and furnishings and promptly notify the Events Coordinator of any need for repair or malfunction.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce City and Botanic Garden policies and regulations.
• Work evenings and weekends.
• Assist the public in a cordial and helpful manner.
