Job summary

Terrain Café, part of the URBN family, is seeking a Host to be the welcoming face of the dining room. You will manage reservations, seat guests, and coordinate with service teams to ensure a smooth, guest-centric experience.

You will handle guest requests, assist with coats and accessibility, and uphold the brand's Steps of Service with professionalism and warmth. Join a garden-to-table concept that values craftsmanship and hospitality.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of hosting or customer service experience preferred.
• Confident communicator and calm under pressure.
• Familiarity with OpenTable or similar systems.
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
• Flexible availability preferred—mornings, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests with warmth, efficiency, and professionalism.
• Assist with coats, strollers, accessibility, and seating needs.
• Accommodate guest requests (highchairs, dietary restrictions).
• Follow brand Steps of Service from arrival to farewell.
• Maintain a calm, polished demeanor during peak periods.
• Manage reservations and waitlists using OpenTable.
• Strategically assign tables to maintain pacing and flow.
• Quote wait times and provide timely updates to guests.
• Confirm reservations and private dining notes.
• Relay guest preferences and allergies to servers and BOH.
• Communicate with managers to adjust seating and service needs.
• Participate in team check-ins and pre-shift meetings.
• Serve as a liaison between front- and back-of-house teams.
• Complete opening, running, and closing duties at the host stand.
• Keep host stand and entrance clean and organized.
• Enforce cafe policies for large parties, pets, and decor guidelines.
• Assist with online ordering kiosk, pickup orders, and delivery drivers.
