Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is seeking a Garage Mechanic to support maintenance and repair across multiple locations. The role requires CDL, tool ownership, and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Candidates should be capable of learning hydraulics, diesel/gas engines, chassis and suspension, welding, and small tool repair, with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Safety and compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to learn multiple disciplines (Hydraulics; Diesel/gas engine; Chassis & suspension; Welding/metal fabrication; Small tool repair).
  • Must know how to use a computer for Diagnostics, Inventory management and Work Orders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of equipment in cities and states within region.
  • Repair and maintenance of equipment ranging from cranes to chain saws.
  • Work safely in garages and in the field under various weather conditions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment repair and deployment across multiple locales.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition.

Education

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
ASE certification
Ford or international certifications
Altec/Telelect
Hydraulic maintenance
Utility or construction experience

Job description

Position Summary:

The Garage Mechanic position works at various locations. This position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage development of equipment in cities and states within region.
  • Knowledge of the mechanics of equipment ranging from as large as a crane to as small as a chain saw.
  • Work safely while performing repairs or maintenance in a garage and in the field in various weather conditions.
  • Troubleshooting in various localities regarding equipment repair, maintenance and deployment.
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others while performing job.
  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
  • Does all other related work as required to complete the job
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Requires 1-5 years of experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must have own general tools.
  • Must be able to learn or perform work in the following disciplines:
    • Hydraulics
    • Diesel/gas engine – automatic
    • Chassis and suspension
    • Welding/metal fabrication
    • Small tool repair
  • Must know or be able to learn how to use a computer for:
    • Diagnostics
    • Equipment Inventory management
    • Work Orders
  • Certifications of Experiences in any of the following a plus:
    • ASE certification
    • Ford or international certifications
    • Altec/Telelect
    • Hydraulic maintenance
    • Utility or construction jobs
  • Able to work for extended periods throughout various locations, when required.
  • Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work over-time when requested.
  • Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
