Job summary

Pike Corporation is looking for a Field Mechanic located in Pensacola, Florida. This role involves working with various pieces of equipment and may require traveling to different states based on customer demands. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanics and be capable of performing rigorous physical labor.

Responsibilities include managing equipment deployment, conducting repairs, and maintaining tools in safe working order. Candidates must have a CDL license or be able to obtain one, along with basic mechanical knowledge. Additional certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years experience required.
  • Able to perform physical labor.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must have or ability to obtain a CDL license.

  • Manage 70-100 pieces of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment in various locations.
  • Perform repairs or maintenance safely.
  • Maintain company vehicles and tools in good condition.

Job description

Position Summary

The Field Mechanic position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for 70 – 100 pieces of equipment per region.
  • Manage Deployment of Equipment across regions, cities and states.
  • Knowledge of equipment mechanics ranging from as large as a crane to as small as a chain saw.
  • Work safely while performing repairs or maintenance on a job site in various weather conditions.
  • Troubleshooting in various localities regarding equipment repair, maintenance and deployment.
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others while performing job.
  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
  • Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
Other Requirements
  • Requires 1-5 years experience.
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Experience or schooling in mechanics.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CDL license within the 60 days of employment.
  • Must have own general tools.
  • Must be able to learn or perform work in the following disciplines:
    • Hydraulics
    • Diesel/gas engine – automatic
    • Chassis and suspension
    • Welding/metal fabrication
    • Small tool repair
  • Must know or be able to learn how to use computers for:
    • Diagnostics
    • Equipment Inventory management
    • Work Orders
  • Certifications or Experiences in any of the following a plus:
    • ASE certification
    • Ford or international certifications
    • Altec/Telelect
    • Hydraulic maintenance
    • Utility or construction jobs
  • Understands equipment set up and grounding.
  • Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
  • Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
  • Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
  • Willing to work over‑time when requested.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
