Qualifications

Job Summary

We are seeking a mechanically inclined Garage Door Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Santa Clara, CA. This field-based role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on troubleshooting, working directly with residential customers, and recommending practical repair or installation solutions.

The Garage Door Technician will diagnose garage door and opener issues, complete service work, and deliver a strong customer experience from the first visit through job completion. This opportunity offers paid training, commission potential, and a supportive service environment where technicians can build technical skills, strengthen sales abilities, and develop a long-term career path in the home services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit residential customers to inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot garage door and garage door opener issues.
• Recommend repair, replacement, or installation solutions based on customer needs and equipment condition.
• Perform garage door repairs, opener service, installations, adjustments, and related field service tasks.
• Explain technical findings clearly and professionally while providing consultative sales recommendations.
• Deliver excellent customer service through timely communication, professional conduct, and quality workmanship.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and customer-focused approach while working in a field-based service environment.

Compensation and Benefits

• Direct hire opportunity.
• Salary range: $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
• Training pay: $25 per hour during training for up to 8 weeks.
• After training: $20 per hour base pay, offset by commission opportunities.
• Location: Santa Clara, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diagnose residential garage door and opener issues in a field service environment.
• Complete repairs, service work, and installations for garage doors and related equipment.
• Provide customer-facing recommendations and consultative sales support.
• Communicate clearly with homeowners throughout the service process.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred in customer service, sales, home services, construction, garage door repair, or a related field.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools to troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information in a clear and professional manner.
• Customer-focused approach with confidence recommending appropriate solutions.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role while maintaining professionalism and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous garage door technician, residential service technician, construction, installation, or home improvement experience.
• Experience in a commission-based or consultative sales environment.
• Familiarity with garage door openers, springs, tracks, rollers, cables, and related residential garage door components.
