Job summary

J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC is seeking a Gaming Service Technician to troubleshoot, service, and repair video gaming equipment at customer sites within the Bloomington, IL region. You will respond to service calls, diagnose issues, and perform repairs to ensure optimal device performance.

The ideal candidate is 21+, has a valid driver’s license, and can meet Illinois Gaming Board requirements including fingerprinting. Prior experience with VGTs is a plus; training provided where needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and using testing instruments.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing video gaming devices preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to service calls and repair video gaming equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electronic gaming devices and related hardware.
  • Install, inspect, and test electronic gaming devices and systems.
  • Maintain service records and communicate issues to management.
  • Travel locally to customer sites and coordinate with team leads.

About the Role

As a Gaming Service Technician, you will play an essential role in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing video gaming equipment at customer establishments throughout the assigned service area. This position is responsible for responding to service calls, resolving technical and customer‑related issues, and supporting management in delivering exceptional customer service across the region.

The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, and successfully meet all requirements established by the Illinois Gaming Board and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, including fingerprinting and background screening.

What you’ll do
Core Responsibilities
  • Respond to service calls and complete equipment repairs efficiently by prioritizing requests based on urgency and geographic location.
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Service teams, under the direction of the Regional Operations Manager, to identify and prepare equipment for deployment and service.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions involving electronic gaming devices and related equipment.
  • Install, inspect, and test electronic gaming devices, hardware, and associated systems to support continuous and efficient business operations.
  • Communicate professionally with clerks, management, and customers to address and resolve service‑related issues.
  • Complete and maintain all required service documentation, device records, and activity logs accurately and timely.
  • Ensure the quality, functionality, and integrity of all incoming and outgoing equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate equipment and parts needs to minimize downtime and support rapid product turnaround.
Collaborations and Partnerships
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with the Team Lead
  • Ability to work closely with the Regional Operations Manager
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with establishment employees and patrons utilizing Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) within establishments

Who You Are
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and repairing VGTs preferred but not required.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing instruments, including gauges and meters.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Exhibits strong electronic and mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, peers, managers, and cross‑functional departments.
  • Must successfully meet all requirements established by the Illinois Gaming Board and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, including fingerprinting and background screening.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education

Requires a high school diploma or GED. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of strict year requirements.

This position works primarily indoors in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Noise levels and environmental changes are typically low and predictable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

This role involves frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout the shift. May frequently lift or move items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs.

Travel

This role requires regular local travel between company locations or job sites. Travel is typically within the same day and does not require overnight stays.
