Job summary

J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC is seeking a Gaming Service Technician to troubleshoot, service, and repair video gaming equipment at customer sites across the region. You will respond to calls, diagnose issues, and support management in delivering exceptional service in the field.

The ideal candidate is at least 21, holds a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and can meet Illinois gaming board background requirements, including fingerprinting. Training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing VGTs preferred.
• Reads, writes and performs basic math.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls and complete equipment repairs efficiently by priority and location.
• Coordinate with Compliance and Service teams to prepare equipment for deployment and service.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions involving electronic gaming devices.
• Install, inspect, and test gaming devices and related systems to support operations.
• Communicate professionally with clerks, management, and customers to resolve issues.
• Complete and maintain service documentation and device records.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate parts needs to minimize downtime.

About the Role

As a Gaming Service Technician, you will play an essential role in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing video gaming equipment at customer establishments throughout the assigned service area. This position is responsible for responding to service calls, resolving technical and customer-related issues, and supporting management in delivering exceptional customer service across the region.

What you’ll do

Core Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls and complete equipment repairs efficiently by prioritizing requests based on urgency and geographic location.
• Coordinate with Compliance and Service teams, under the direction of the Regional Operations Manager, to identify and prepare equipment for deployment and service.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions involving electronic gaming devices and related equipment.
• Install, inspect, and test electronic gaming devices, hardware, and associated systems to support continuous and efficient business operations.
• Communicate professionally with clerks, management, and customers to address and resolve service-related issues.
• Complete and maintain all required service documentation, device records, and activity logs accurately and timely.
• Ensure the quality, functionality, and integrity of all incoming and outgoing equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate equipment and parts needs to minimize downtime and support rapid product turnaround.

Collaborations and Partnerships

• Ability to effectively collaborate with the Team Lead

• Ability to maintain professional working relationships with establishment employees and patrons utilizing Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) within establishments

Who You Are

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Previous experience troubleshooting and repairing VGTs preferred but not required.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Proficient in the use of electrical testing instruments, including gauges and meters.
• Demonstrates the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Exhibits strong electronic and mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, peers, managers, and cross-functional departments.
• Must successfully meet all requirements established by the Illinois Gaming Board and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, including fingerprinting and background screening.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education

Requires a high school diploma or GED. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of strict year requirements.

This position works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Noise levels and environmental changes are typically low and predictable.
