Qualifications

• Comfortable using Google Workspace apps (Sheets, Email, Google Chat).
• Prior customer service or front desk experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and guide them through the AuCoin lobby to assist with wayfinding.
• Respond to basic academic and departmental inquiries using cross-training knowledge.
• Monitor arriving guest appointments and notify staff via Google Chat.
• Maintain a tidy, welcoming reception area and log visitor traffic accurately.
• Collaborate with student staff from partner units during shared shifts following protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and inquiries per campus privacy policies.
• Assist with general office projects and departmental tasks to support the Opportunity Hub.

Job Details: Full Academic Year | $16.80/hour

Work Location: In-Person

Purpose of Position: The Navigation Desk Specialist serves as the welcoming face and primary point of contact at the central AuCoin lobby desk. This position supports students, staff, and visitors by providing wayfinding, answering foundational academic and resource inquiries, and assisting with appointment check-ins across participating units (Opportunity Hub, TRIO, SMC, and MCCE).

What You'll Do:

• Visitor Greeting & Navigation: Welcome all students, faculty, staff, and guests entering the AuCoin lobby. Guide visitors through the building and campus to ensure efficient wayfinding.
• Resource & Inquiry Support: Respond to basic academic and departmental inquiries (such as class drop procedures, TRIO application steps, and general advising questions) using established cross-training knowledge.
• Appointment Check-in & Communication: Monitor arriving guest appointments and notify relevant professional staff promptly via Google Chat.
• Desk & Operations Upkeep: Maintain a tidy, welcoming reception area, manage quick administrative and computer tasks, and log drop-in visitor traffic accurately.
• Departmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with student staff from partner units during shared shifts and follow established protocols for complex escalation or supervisor assistance.
• Information Security: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and inquiries in accordance with campus privacy policies.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with general office administrative projects and additional departmental tasks as needed to support the Opportunity Hub team.
