The Peace Rose Montessori School in Sayreville, NJ is seeking a part-time After Care/Teacher Assistant to join the team. You will work 1:45 PM–6:00 PM, with early dismissal days 11:45 AM–6:00 PM, supporting Lead Teacher and providing engaging activities for children after school.

• Greet families at pick-up and communicate updates.

Part-Time | Peace Rose Montessori School | Sayreville, NJ
Are you energetic, nurturing, patient, and someone who truly enjoys working with children? Peace Rose Montessori School is looking for a dependable, caring, and hands-on individual to join our After Care team and provide substitute classroom support as needed.

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday, 1:45 PM–6:00 PM
• Early Dismissal Days: 11:45 AM–6:00 PM
• Hours may vary based on the needs of the school
• Must be 18 years or older

After Care Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a warm, engaging afternoon program that may include music and movement, outdoor play, crafts, storytelling, art, games, and seasonal projects
• Actively engage with children throughout the shift by sitting and playing with them, building with LEGOS, dancing, reading stories, playing games, assisting with activities, and participating in outdoor play
• Work one‑on‑one with students who may need additional support, using provided activities with patience and a calm approach
• Assist children with transitions, routines, and age‑appropriate needs
• Greet families warmly at pick‑up and communicate important information appropriately
• Help keep the Lead Teacher and other staff informed of relevant After Care updates
• Assist with cleaning, organizing, and preparing classrooms and restrooms for the following day

Classroom/Substitute Responsibilities:

• Support Lead Teachers with classroom activities, supervision, child care, and classroom management
• Provide one‑on‑one support to children when needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
• Step in to assist or cover classrooms throughout the school as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Experience with young children preferred; childcare, babysitting, classroom, or parenting experience is welcome
• A genuine love of working with children is a must
• Patient, caring, kind, dependable, and flexible
• Upbeat, energetic team player with a positive attitude
• Comfortable actively participating with children rather than simply supervising
• Able to sit on the floor with children and get up and down as needed
• Able to lift and carry a child weighing approximately 40 lbs. several times during the day if needed
• Willing to assist with cleaning, classroom setup, and other responsibilities as part of the team
