Job description

PHP (3300 Henry Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19129)

Future Elementary Teacher Opportunities

Location: Philadelphia, PA

About Hebrew Public

Hebrew Public is a small and growing network of schools operated by Hebrew Public: Charter Schools for Global Citizens. Hebrew Public is a secular organization that welcomes candidates of all backgrounds into a supportive and inclusive community.

Across the network, Hebrew Public schools serve children from all backgrounds and help students become global citizens who are strong problem solvers, aware communicators, and lifelong learners committed to making a positive difference in the world around them. Our schools are models of racial and economic integration, academic excellence, and world language learning.

Why PHP?

As part of Hebrew Public, Philadelphia Hebrew Public teachers and staff bring our mission to life with students from more than 40 zip codes across Philadelphia, primarily Black and Brown students whose brilliance, curiosity, and potential drive our work every day.

PHP is rooted in the belief that every student deserves excellent teachers and an outstanding education. Through rigorous academics, strong relationships, and a globally minded education, we help students expand what they see as possible for themselves.

We also invest in educators. Teachers receive coaching, collaborative planning, professional development, certification support, and opportunities to grow into leadership roles. Our compensation model recognizes teacher skill, growth, and classroom impact, not simply years of experience. After their first year, eligible teachers may qualify for 5% up to 10% annual salary increases based on their impact in the classroom, without needing additional graduate coursework.

For educators who want to make a meaningful difference while growing their own careers, PHP offers the opportunity to do both.

You don’t need to speak Hebrew to apply, and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community.
The Opportunity

We are always open to meeting skilled, student-centered educators who may be a strong fit for future Elementary Teacher positions. Philadelphia’s education community is a small world, and we value building relationships with excellent teachers, even when we do not have an immediate opening.

This evergreen talent-pipeline posting may not represent a current vacancy. Applications will be reviewed as staffing needs arise, and our Talent Team may contact candidates whose experience aligns with an available opportunity.

In grades K–2, teachers typically teach literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning. In grades 3–5, teachers may specialize in ELA, Math, or Science/Social Studies. Teachers use EL Education, Eureka² Math, and Responsive Classroom practices to create rigorous, joyful, and inclusive classrooms.

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
  • Build a joyful, structured, and inclusive classroom
  • Differentiate instruction and use data to close gaps and accelerate growth
  • Support students’ academic and social-emotional development
  • Foster global citizenship and an appreciation for different cultures and perspectives
  • Collaborate with colleagues and build strong partnerships with families
  • Participate in coaching, planning, professional development, and feedback
  • Model our OLAM values: outstanding problem-solving, lifelong learning, aware communication, and making a difference
Who You Are
  • You believe in the limitless potential of every student and that all children deserve excellent teachers and an outstanding education.
  • You are committed to urban education and closing opportunity and achievement gaps
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • You understand effective elementary instruction, classroom culture, and student engagement
  • You use assessment data to respond to student needs and accelerate growth
  • You build strong relationships while maintaining high expectations
  • You value social-emotional learning and global citizenship
  • You welcome feedback and demonstrate the OLAM values in your work

Pennsylvania elementary teacher certification, or active progress toward certification, is preferred. Experience in urban school communities and familiarity with Responsive Classroom, EL Education, Eureka Math, or similar high-quality approaches are also preferred.

  • Medical and dental coverage with 85% of premiums covered by the employer
  • Employer-paid vision coverage
  • A 5% employer retirement match with no vesting period
  • Paid time off, school holidays, and 6 weeks paid parental leave
  • Mental-health and employee-assistance resources
  • Professional development and certification partnerships
  • Additional stipends, performance-based compensation, and global travel opportunities

*Benefits packages vary depending on the role.

Our Commitment
