Job summary

Type One Energy Group seeks a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to advance the design of stellarator fusion plant systems and components. You will work on vacuum vessels, divertors, magnets, and plasma facing parts, translating requirements into robust CAD models and analyses.

Collaboration with engineers and scientists is essential. The role requires a strong background in mechanical design principles, reliability, and experience with first-of-a-kind components, with a preference for NX CAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience with NX CAD software preferred.
• Strong understanding of design principles, failure modes, and reliability.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools (ANSYS/COMSOL) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide conceptual, preliminary and final design of systems and components for stellarator fusion plants.
• Design vacuum vessels, divertors, magnets and plasma facing components.
• Develop CAD drawings and perform engineering analysis.
• Conduct design reviews and TRL assessments.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists across teams.
