Job summary

Type One Energy in Knoxville, TN seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the conceptual, preliminary and final design of Stellarator systems. You will develop CAD models for vacuum vessels, divertors, magnets, and plasma-facing components, working with engineers and scientists to translate requirements into robust hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Siemens NX CAD software is highly desirable.
• Experience with engineering analysis software such as ANSYS or COMSOL is desirable.
• Experience designing first-of-a-kind components and systems.

Responsibilities

• Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems.
• Develop system and 3D designs and associated technical specifications.
• Analyze and align interface requirements between stellarator systems.
• Interpret simulation results to support design optimization and performance improvement.
• Resolve technical questions during fabrication efforts.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists.
