Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Math/Applied Math/Computational Physics with a focus on numerical methods for fluid dynamics.
  • Strong background in numerical analysis for PDEs and fluid dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with invariant-domain preserving (IDP) methods or certifiably robust discretization.
  • Proficient in C++ and experience developing scientific software; MPI-based HPC experience.
  • Experience with deal.II or similar finite element frameworks and multi-material CFD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze IDP numerical methods for multi-material CFD with applications to ICF.
  • Model, verify, and validate radiation hydrodynamics formulations and discretizations.
  • Collaborate with physicists and software engineers; contribute to publications and code.
  • Support verification/validation and provide domain expertise on expected physical behavior.
  • Contribute to benchmark problems and reproducible multi-material results.
