Job summary

Xcimer Energy is seeking a Computational Physicist (Fluid Dynamics) to advance CFD for inertial fusion energy. You will develop and analyze high-fidelity numerical methods and contribute to multi-material radiation hydrodynamics model development.

The role blends mathematical modeling, code development in C++/MPI, and collaboration with physicists and software engineers. A Ph.D. in a related field and strong publication record are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or related field with focus on numerical methods for fluid dynamics.
• Strong background in numerical analysis for PDEs, especially CFD.

Responsibilities

• Implement and improve multi-material modeling approaches (interface tracking/capturing, mixture models).
• Support coupling of hydrodynamics with radiation transport and other physics modules.
• Develop and analyze robust IDP numerical methods for multi-material flows.
• Contribute to mathematical modeling for multi-material systems relevant to ICF.
• Collaborate with physicists and software engineers; contribute to publications.
