Job summary

Xcimer Energy seeks a Computational Physicist (Fluid Dynamics) to advance multi-material and radiation-hydrodynamics modeling for inertial confinement fusion. You will work at our Denver, CO HQ with physicists, mathematicians, and engineers to develop robust numerical methods for high-energy-density physics.

The role emphasizes CFD expertise, deal.II experience, HPC programming with MPI, and strong communication to publish results and contribute to a shared benchmark suite. On-site work required.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Physics, or closely related field.
  • Strong numerical analysis background for PDEs and CFD.
  • Experience with invariant-domain preserving (IDP) methods or robust discretizations.
  • Experience with finite element methods and deal.II preferred.
  • Experience developing scientific software in C++.
  • Experience with MPI-based HPC environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-material CFD modeling and verification/validation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop multi-material and radiation-hydrodynamics models for ICF.
  • Create and analyze robust CFD algorithms and IDP-based schemes.
  • Collaborate with physicists, mathematicians, and software engineers.
  • Contribute to publications and research-code documentation.
  • Support verification, validation, and reproducibility efforts.
