As aComputational Physicist (Fluid Dynamics) at Xcimer, you will contribute to the theoretical and computational development of multi-material radiation hydrodynamics models that support inertial confinement fusion (ICF). This role focuses on numerical methods for computational fluid dynamics (CFD), with emphasis on high-fidelity modeling of complex multi-physics systems relevant to fusion energy.
You will work closely with senior scientists and software engineers to develop, analyze, verify, and validate numerical methods and simulation capabilities within Xcimer's radiation hydrodynamics codebase. This is a hands-on technical role that blends mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, and high-performance scientific computing.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in numerical methods for fluid dynamics, hands-on experience withinvariant-domain preserving (IDP) methods, strong experience with finite element frameworks (particularly deal.II), and the ability to contribute meaningfully to code development, scientific publications, and collaborative research efforts.
$160,000 - $200,000 a year
Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California Equal Pay Act.
